Prophylaxis

Your teeth need daily care for a healthy smile!

Dental prophylaxis is a very simple and easy-to-access treatment method. The purpose of dental prophylaxis is to prevent the occurrence of dental caries and periodontal disease. Prophylaxis also prevents the progression of these conditions if they have already appeared.

Main prophylaxis methods:

  • Oral hygiene

Oral hygiene is the most important prophylaxis method. Dental plaque accumulates on the surface of the teeth after every meal. If not removed by active brushing, it will calcify and turn into dental tartar. Proper oral hygiene involves regular and correct brushing, at least twice a day, flossing, and mouthwash use.

  • Regular periodic check-ups

Regular check-ups should be performed at least twice a year. Many oral conditions progress without pain, especially in the initial stages. The dentist can detect incipient caries that the patient is not yet aware of or can discover initial signs of gum disease.

  • Tartar removal

Tartar removal is the process of removing tartar and dental plaque using specific tartar removal instruments.

  • Professional brushing

Professional brushing aims to remove dental plaque left after tartar removal, as well as various stains or discolorations on the surface of the teeth. Professional brushing should be accompanied by regular oral hygiene.
