If you recognize any symptoms, from those listed below, immediately after applying the new removable denture, don't worry because in most cases they can disappear over time:
Don't expect to chew easily and efficiently from the beginning. You have to consider that the body needs a period of time, variable from person to person, to get used to the new dentures.
To improve denture stability, it is recommended to use special adhesives for removable dentures in the form of paste (Corega, Fixodent, Protefix). Place 3 small dots of paste the size of a pea on the surface that will come into contact with the gums, as follows: one in the middle of the denture and one each in the area of the premolars (the first two teeth behind the canine).
Each denture has an insertion axis that must be respected. It is best to practice the insertion and removal of the denture in front of a mirror. You should not bite hard on the denture to insert it.
Despite conflicting advice, wearing dentures at night is allowed. Whenever they are not worn, dentures should be kept in water or in a solution with one or two effervescent tablets for denture hygiene. Do not use hot water to avoid deforming the dentures.
Thorough oral hygiene, performed twice a day, is necessary whether you have natural or false teeth. Poor oral and denture hygiene, whether fixed or removable, can lead to the accumulation of harmful bacteria and fungi, which can cause odors, irritations, and diseases, endangering overall health.
The oral cavity is cleaned with a soft toothbrush and then rinsed with mouthwash.
Preferably, denture cleaning should be done over a soft surface (towel or sink filled with water), which could protect it in case you drop it.
There are special brushes with softer bristles for cleaning dentures. Cleaning is done with special detergents for denture hygiene, or with liquid hand soap or dish soap, non-abrasive.
